Contrast and complimentary were the main inspirations behind
the scenes at Lako Bukia SS12. Above the fluid lines of the collection in
delicate feminine fabrics of chiffon, silk and light wool, stood fabulous messy
hair constructions, where the hair was scraped up and seemed to swirl around
the head.
‘I worked with the stylist and the designer. The clothes are
so soft and so feminine we wanted to make it a bit more edgy, but still keep it
beautiful,’ explains hair stylist, Tim Furssedonn, for Toni&Guy.
There were two different hair looks created but both rooted
in the idea of the quiff. Some were flatter and sleeker, more of a roll of hair
on top of the model’s heads and others were pure backcombed madness. But as Tim
described, they were beautiful. I couldn’t take my eyes away - following the
wisps of hair as they formed the raw sculptures.
‘The idea that they wouldn’t be too done and not perfectly,’
says Tim, as he explains the importance of the method using the mousse,
hairspray and wax stick from label M, Toni&Guy.
The makeup was highly complementary to the Japanese inspired
collection. The attention was on the eyes: a square shape in shiny cream was
drawn around it with lashings of thick eyeliner to define and widen the form of
the actual eye. Lips were kept matte and pale while cheekbones had a high
shine.
