COLLECTION| Raffaele Ascione AW12

Sleek, soft and stylish was the name of the game at Raffaele Ascione’s presentation this evening.  Moody, melancholic music wafted through the crowd as loose, trapeze cut silk dresses billowed to the floor in simple charcoals, cornflower blue and aqua tones, whilst gold exposed zips and supersized red hoops gave a sharp, edgy feel to the simple lines.  Accents of deep crimson red added depth and contrast, in the peep of a chunky shoe or the glimpse of a wine red turtle neck under the sweeping smocked creations, as well as strong red lips on otherwise bare, clean faces.

Adding to the relaxed, yet super luxe look was a distinct Seventies vibe, boosted by fun and flirty maroon flares with double tiered detailing, and gorgeously wearable, super wide leg, black palazzo pants.  Acres of black lace panelling, inserts and black lace appliqué adorned necks, shoulders and hips, and gave the super subtle pieces a pretty, eveningwear feel.  Hero pieces of the collection were a beautifully matched block cut tee in a deep, claret hue, paired with a dramatic, floor length maxi skirt in bright, poppy red, which, far from clashing, looked rich and elegant and effortless.  A lovely nude, floor length dress adorned with ivory lace was another highlight, with its delicate textures and simple, pretty detailing.  Clean, simple and super wearable, comfort dressing has never looked so good.
